I've first read this book when I was like ten. It's been how many years now, and I still think that it's fantastic. This books is about the journey of two caterpillars, Stripe and Yellow, and the obstacles and problems that they faced before they both became butterflies. The story is simple, but beautiful and realistic.
It's about learning to give up and let go. How each ending offers a new beginning. It's about taking risks. And the desire to see something more. The illustrations are really wonder I've first read this book when I was like ten. The illustrations are really wonderful. Recommending this to Koreans who has some difficulties in reading the english version. Hope for the flowers. I first thought that it was a goofy story about tower of worms, but as I read through the book, I recognized that it had a deeper meaning than anything. I won't talk about it in the review how I can spoil the story.

Does that leave anyone out? It's sort of like a therapy fable. It took about 30 minutes to read, and it's the kind of book that you keep in your bedstand to pull out whenever you need to remind yourself that growth hurts and change can be very scary.

This is a children's book that is clearly from the time of hippies. It is new agey and goofy, but I still love it. I found it at the house of a girl I take care of, and was surprised by it when I read it to her. It touched me and hit me in a place that I didn't realize existed. I enjoyed it and I think others would, too just don't take it too seriously, it is what it is. I also would like to say that I absolutely love the name of this book. May 04, K.
Absolutely rated it it was ok Recommended to K. I remember the plot — a caterpillar who went on top of other caterpillar trying to reach a certain height.
I think it is a story of becoming somebody among the many who do not have dreams. It is very much the same message as Jonathan Livingston Seagull. The only difference is that these are caterpillars metamorphosing into nice butterflies while Jonathan is a seagull who learned how to be different by flying. My brother bought this for my daughters years ago while they were still too young to appreciate it. It got put on a special shelf and was recently rediscovered - I finally read it. It was just as hopeful and charming as my hermano promised and gave me fresh encouragement that life isn't in the striving, but in the being.

I had almost forgotten about this book. I was trying to find room in my seriously overcrowded bookshelves for a book I had just finished reading and ran into this one tucked away—waiting patiently to be rediscovered.
The book itself is a beautifully written and delightfully illustrated allegory of a caterpillar named Spike and his companion Yellow. Since the book is on Wow. This book gets five stars for far more personal reasons. I must have given a copy of it to some member of my immediately family and forgotten about it.
About a decade later it found its way back to me. My father had gone through some very challenging times that made him even more introspective than he typically is. He found the book somewhere and it touched it soul in a meaningful way. It was very moving to read of how he saw so much of himself and his life in this allegory. And how it gave him along with the flowers hope. Distinct ways the author establishes for characterization, and for each instance noted.
Support your observation with a reference not a quotation from the book. The author of the book used direct or explicit characterization wherein the author literally tells the audience what the characters are like. This may be done via the narrator, another character or by the character him- or herself. Realize that what a character is like is not the same as how the author establishes the character.
Could you relate to any of the characters in the story? In what way? I can perfectly relate to one of the characters, Stripe, when he felt that there is something more to discover about life and the time he had troubles about getting back to the pillar once more. Have you ever done some of the things or felt some of the same things that the characters did? I felt the same thing Stripe felt when he decided to go to the pillar once again. Did you like the book? Why not? Yes, simply because it made me realize things beyond my wildest dreams.
It inspires me a lot too and it also served as a motivation for me to never give up on things easily and to explore life more. What is your favourite part of the book? My favourite part of the book is when Yellow met the caterpillar in the cocoon and they talked about life, that there is more to it than just being a caterpillar, the statements of both parties are simple yet meaningful for me.
If you could change any part of the book, what would it be? I will also change the designs and make the illustrations clearer, eye-catching and cute. Would you recommend the book for other people to read?
Definitely yes because I believe that this book will not just help people have a strategy to kill time, or to help widen your vocabulary or to see a bright-yellow-covered-book, but this will also inspire people. Yellow helped stripe to find what he longing is for a long time.. As stripe and yellow fly away together, they carry hope for the flowers and for the people.
I admire the character of yellow because of the eargerness to help stripe inspite of the things that stripe do to her.
